Mailnox Extended Warranty Policy

v1.1 – Effective: April 30, 2025

Your Rights Under NZ Law

This extended warranty is in addition to your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA). All New Zealand consumers are protected by the CGA, which guarantees that products must be of acceptable quality, fit for purpose, and free from manufacturing defects. This policy does not replace or limit those rights.

What This Warranty Covers

  • Up to three (3) lock system replacements due to verified manufacturing or component failure.
  • Replacement locks shipped to you for self-installation using the built-in mounting points.
  • Covers internal faults, control unit failure, or product malfunction not caused by misuse, pests, or environmental damage listed below.

What This Warranty Does Not Cover

  • Battery life — AAA lithium batteries are considered consumables and must be replaced at your own expense.
  • Damage from ants, earwigs, spiders, or other pests.
  • Water ingress due to improper installation or extreme exposure.
  • Salt corrosion from rural coastal environments.
  • Vandalism, impact damage, or cosmetic wear and tear.
  • Unauthorised modification, tampering, or misuse.

Lock Replacement & Refund Policy

  • You may claim up to three (3) lock replacements over 5 years.
  • There is no time restriction between claims, but you must submit your maintenance log on schedule.

Customer Responsibilities

  • Install replacement locks using the mounting points provided.
  • Follow our official installation instructions to avoid voiding coverage.
  • Maintain pest protection and submit your maintenance logs every 6–12 months.

Maintenance Log Requirement

To remain eligible for warranty replacements, submit a maintenance log every 6 to 12 months:

  • Photo of the installed mailbox
  • Proof of pest control (e.g. spray bottle, clean housing, etc.)
  • Optional battery replacement notes

Note: Missed log submissions may affect eligibility under this extended warranty. However, you may still have rights under the CGA regardless.

How to Make a Claim

Email support@mailnox.co.nz with the following details:

  • Your order number
  • Description of the issue
  • Date of your last maintenance log submission
  • We aim to respond within 5 business days.

    Additional Notes

    • This warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser.
    • Coverage begins from the original purchase date.
    • This policy is separate from our standard Refund Policy.
